What is the Jubilee Year?
A Jubilee is a special year of grace and conversion in the Catholic Church, occurring every 25 years. It is a time to re-establish a proper relationship with God, with one another, and with all of creation.
The Jubilee 2025 invites us to be “Pilgrims of Hope” in a world that often feels uncertain. It is a call to rediscover our faith and to be a beacon of light for others.
The Symbolism of the Holy Door
One of the most powerful symbols of any Jubilee is the Holy Door. When a pilgrim walks through the Holy Door, it represents a spiritual passage—leaving the past behind and crossing the threshold into a life of grace and mercy.
“I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved.” — John 10:9
While the primary Holy Door is at St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome, we are called to open the “doors of our hearts” right here in our own parish.
How to Participate at [Insert Parish Name]
We have several ways for you to journey with us during this Holy Year:
- Sacramental Grace: Join us for extra hours of Confession and Adoration as we seek personal renewal.
- Acts of Mercy: In the spirit of the Jubilee, we are launching a “Hope Initiative” to support local families in need.
- Parish Pilgrimage: Join our local walking pilgrimage to the Cathedral on [Insert Date].
- Study Groups: We will be hosting a 4-week series on the “Documents of Vatican II,” as requested by Pope Francis in preparation for the Jubilee.
The Jubilee Prayer
We invite all parishioners to pray the official Jubilee prayer daily:
Father in heaven, may the faith we have given us in your son, Jesus Christ, our brother, and the flame of charity enkindled in our hearts by the Holy Spirit, reawaken in us the blessed hope for the coming of your Kingdom.
May your grace transform us into hardworking cultivators of the seeds of the Gospel… and may the Jubilee of Hope be a time of grace for the whole world.
Amen.
